Treatment of Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes is treated by administering your physician ordered insulin shots under the skin into fatty tissues. From there, the insulin is absorbed into the blood stream and distributed to cells requiring its presence.
Although insulin cannot be taken as a pill because the stomach acids would destroy it before it could work, scientists are continually seeking alternative methods for its administration.
