Swine Flu (H1N1-09) Quick Facts

 What Is It?

The latest version of “Swine Flu” is scientifically known as 2009-H1N1 or H1N1-09. Although the H1N1-09 appears to be weaker than the ordinary flu in the sense its symptoms are less intense, its ability to overpower all other strains of influenza put it in a class by itself. How Serious Is It?

Although the media hypes the H1N1-09 to the extent one may believe it is more deadly than any other flu, that appears to be just more nonsense of the type we’ve grown accustomed to hearing over the years. Early indications are that even though an affected person may be contagious for a longer period of time, it is far more benign than originally believed and may indeed, be less intense than the common flu. For more information, click HERE

Symptoms

Symptoms of the H1N1-09 include those associated with the common cold (sore throat, runny nose, etc.) as well as a sudden onset of high fever (100+), chills, headaches, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, tiredness, and diarrhea. For more information, click HERE

Treatment

If you believe you may have contacted H1N1-09 (Swine Flu), contact your health care provider immediately and follow their directions. If you don’t have a health care provider, contact the closest clinic in your “neck of the woods” for further directions. Licensed health care providers will determine whether it is severe enough to require professional treatment.

The Center for Disease Control also recommends the use of oseltamivir or zanamivir for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with the H1N1-09 flu virus. Antiviral drugs are medicines (pills, liquid or an inhaled powder) that fight against the flu and require a doctor’s prescription. Once infected, these antiviral drugs can reduce the severity of the event and make you feel better faster. They may also prevent serious flu complications. For more information, click HERE

As researchers, we believe the use of ionic air purifiers help reduce the risk of spreading this (and any other air borne disease) throughout your living and/or working spaces. For further information on this incredible health aid, click HERE
