Prevention

To A Better Heart!

If a stroke can be so debilitating, how can we prevent one in the first place?

That’s not an easy answer. However, there are certain thing we can do to minimize the possibility.

  • Lifestyle modifications such as mitigating high blood pressure, cessation of smoking, and adding exercise to ones agenda
  • If a “mini-stroke” (Transient Ischaemic Attack or TIA) has occurred, use of aspirin may stop more blood clots
  • A surgical operation(s) may be employed in an aggressive move to unblock arteries in the neck after a TIA
  • Warfarin may be used to prevent blood clots from forming in the hearts of those with a certain type of irregular heart beat
