As air is drawn through the unit, larger pollution particles are removed by a pre-filter, protecting downstream filters and operations in the process. Next, the air continues through a true, washable HEPA filter (rated 99% effective at 0.3 microns) where dust, dust mites, mold, fungi, allergens, and bacteria are removed. Next, the air passes through a photocatalyst oxidation filter (also called a TiO2 filter), further reducing pollutants such as chemicals, bacteria, and odors.
